Roundabouts are increasingly being used for handling traffic at intersections, and for many state highway agencies, concrete is the pavement of choice for that application.  Concrete can better handle channelized traffic without deforming, and to assist the design community, PennDOT has developed standards for jointing roundabouts.  Read about the first concrete roundabout constructed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

There is a difference between cement and concrete.  The Pennsylvania Supreme Court, in a 1963 colorfully written opinion authored by Michael A. Musmanno, explains how using these words interchangeably does violence to correct language, assaults the dictionary and invites etymological chaos.
