Roundabouts are increasingly being used for handling traffic at intersections, and for many state highway agencies, concrete is the pavement of choice for that application. Concrete can better handle channelized traffic without deforming, and to assist the design community, PennDOT has developed standards for jointing roundabouts. There are only seven concrete roundabouts in Pennsylvania, all near Interstate 70 between New Stanton and Bentleyville.
